Contractors are putting the finishing touches on the Deer Park Road building on Bangtail Way, a four-story office building that broke ground in 2014.
The building was the first commercial construction project of its kind to break ground after the recession.
Deer Park Road employees began moving into the top three floors of the space in late July, and Resort Ventures West employees will move into the first floor of the office building next week.
A new restaurant called Brick is also slated for the first floor and will serve sandwiches, Italian dinners and pizza.
“We’re very happy with the feel of the building,” said Michael Craig-Scheckman, president of Deer Park Road, an investment management company headquartered in Steamboat Springs and competing against other hedge funds on Wall Street.
Vertical Arts Architecture designed the building, including architecture, interior design and furniture and landscape design.
HLCC is the general contractor of the building, and Resort Ventures West has acted as project manager.
Craig-Scheckman said the building, which brings together employees that were previously housed in three separate offices on the mountain, has been three years in the making.
“Now, everybody sees each other all the time, and there’s a lot more relaxed spaces,” Craig-Scheckman said.
He added that investors who have visited the new building are also impressed.
The building’s fourth floor boasts a lounge area with Italian leather couches, a full-size kitchen and conference room with clear views of Mount Werner.
The building sits at the base of the Wildhorse Gondola and is adjacent to Trailhead Lodge, a condominium complex developed by Resort Ventures West nearly 10 years ago.
The interior of the building is sleek, with smooth finishes and highlighted with local art, including pieces by Sandy Graves and Jorge Torella in the building’s first floor lobby.
The building’s first floor restaurant, Brick, is being opened by the owners of The Paramount, a popular lunch spot at the base of the Steamboat Ski Area.
Craig-Scheckman said he expects the restaurant space to be finished by early October and thinks owners are planning to open the restaurant near Thanksgiving.
